About this plan
Prayer in the Bible is rarely tidy. This plan spends a week with people who pray honestly in the Psalms, with Jesus’ teaching on prayer, and with the prayers he prayed himself. It is for anyone who wants prayer to feel less like a task and more like time with someone they know.
Days 1 to 3 are Psalms, ending with Psalms 23 to 27, where the Lord is a shepherd and a light. Day 4 reads three psalms of very different moods: Psalm 32 on forgiveness, Psalm 51 on a clean heart and Psalm 63 on thirst for God. Day 5 is the Sermon on the Mount, and day 6 reads Luke 11, Luke 18 and John 15 on asking, persistence and staying close to Christ.
The week ends with Jesus’ prayer for his followers in John 17 and Romans 8, where the Spirit prays with us when we cannot find the words.
